Coppell ISD Family Feast Drive Nov. 17

For 14 years, CISD has collected food for families in need around Thanksgiving. Mark your calendars to donate canned foods or non-perishable foods on Friday, Nov. 17, for the CISD Family Feast Drive! You also may make an online donation HERE. When you make your donation, make sure you choose Richard J Lee Elementary. Last year, CISD collected 12,397 pounds of food and $13,708 for a total of 51,454 nutritious meals for those in need in North Texas.

FAMILEE LITERACY NIGHT

Did you know that Thursday is National Parent Involvement Day? Please join us on Thursday Night from 6:00-7:30 pm for our first FamiLEE Literacy Night. Reading is more than just calling words, and we want to share ways that you can support reading, literacy, and comprehension at home. We will host three 15 minute mini-lessons for parents, therefore, please arrive at 5:45 so you can attend all sessions. The last 15 minutes of the event is time reading with your child. Learners are encouraged to come with you, and while parents are in sessions, learners can attend student sessions in the cafeteria. The parent course catalog is here. We look forward to seeing you!

The Coppell Education Foundation’s Red & Black Fundraising Campaign will end on November 17th. We have received over $100,000 in 2017/2018 grant requests from Coppell ISD teachers, but we are still short of our fundraising goal for the year.

Please donate to fund educational, motivational and innovative programs that benefit EVERY STUDENT, EVERY TEACHER and EVERY SCHOOL in Coppell ISD!

District Calendar Update & Request for Input

At its recent meeting, the District Education Improvement Council (DEIC) designated a calendar subcommittee to make recommendations for the district’s next two-year calendar (2018-2019 and 2019-2020.) The calendar subcommittee is set to meet twice before presenting options to the DEIC. The DEIC then will send two calendar options, which will be posted on the Coppell ISD website, to the Board of Trustees for consideration. Don’t forget we welcome your input on the district’s two-year calendar by emailing input@coppellisd.com by Nov. 28.

What is MackinVIA?

By this point in the school year, your learner has done research activities in his/her house. Have you heard your student mention something called MackinVIA?

MackinVIA is a digital content management system. It houses the Coppell ISD databases that provide students with reliable, trustworthy, and authoritative resources for research and learning. Students log into MackinVIA using their CISD usernames and passwords.

Databases are an alternative to using an internet browser (such as Google) to locate information. Click

The Coppell Education Foundation is excited to partner with Verizon to offer our 3rd annual Red & Black Robotics Camp. This program is specifically designed for 5th and 6th graders to build and program their very own Parallax Boe-Bot Robot to perform a variety of tasks. The two-hour classes will be held on Wednesday nights over 8 weeks, starting January 10th. Registration opens November 1st at 8:00 am. Hurry spots won’t last long!
